  • Speaker Biographies:

    Marianne Bailey - Marianne brings over 35 years of experience across the Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence community, and civil government sectors. She served as Deputy National Manager for National Security Systems (NSS) and Senior Cybersecurity Executive for the National Security Agency where she was directly responsible for systems across the government containing classified and/or sensitive information. She also served as both Principal Deputy for Cybersecurity and Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (DCISO), Department of Defense, CIO.

    Marianne received the Distinguished Executive Presidential Rank Award, the highest government civilian recognition, for her contributions to national security. Marianne has lead US cyber policy and technology issues internationally and is well known for her global leadership in cyber. She has received many awards recognizing her efforts to include the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Civilian Service, FedScoop’s Top Women in IT and most recently, Washington’s Top 25 Cyber Executives to Watch (2020). 

    Amanda Charter - Amanda is a Data Security Analyst with the KSU UITS Office of Cybersecurity. She received her Bachelor of Science in Communication from Kennesaw State University and is currently working on a Master of Science in International Policy Management from Kennesaw State University with a focus on institutional privacy practices and compliance.

    Patrick Jenkins - Patrick has spent more than 25 years in the IT, Security & Compliance industry.  He's currently serving as the Director of Operational Risk Management at ADP.  His previous experience in the private sector includes leading the security risk assessment team at US Bank and serving as Director of Global Security Compliance and PCI ISA at Equifax.  

    Patrick also has extensive experience in Higher Education, serving in various IT and audit roles at the Georgia Institute of Technology and as Director of IT Audit for the University System of Georgia.  He holds numerous industry certifications and is a proud "Double Owl", receiving both Bachelors and Masters degrees from Kennesaw State University.

    Lyndsey Lieb - Lyndsey started with Kennesaw State University as a Data Security Analyst in 2017. She holds an undergraduate degree in Geographic Information Sciences and has additional professional background in clinical research compliance and audit within the medical device industry.

    Herb Mattord - Herb completed 26 years of IT industry experience before joining the faculty at Kennesaw State University in 2002. He was the Manager of Corporate Information Technology Security at Georgia-Pacific Corporation, where much of his practical knowledge in information security was acquired.

    He is on the faculty at Kennesaw State University with the rank of Professor where he teaches Information Security and Cybersecurity. He serves as the Director of Education and Outreach for the Institute for Cybersecurity Workforce Development (cyberinstitute.kennesaw.edu). He is the co-author of several books published by Course Technology and an active researcher in information security management topics.

    Tobias Simpson - Tobias is the Director of Data Security and Awareness with the KSU UITS Office of Cybersecurity. Tobias received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s in Information Systems Management from the University of Phoenix. Tobias has over 20 years of experience in IT Operations, Infrastructure, and Security across the Car Care, Education, Healthcare, and Manufacturing industries. Tobias recently relocated Kennesaw from Lexington, Kentucky.

    Derrick Sturisky - Derrick has 25 years of consulting and industry experience in technology, cybersecurity, and risk management. He is a Director with Guidehouse’s Technology Advisory practice. Prior to joining Guidehouse, Derrick served as Head of Risk Management at a $30B global Pharma Life Sciences Organization and as a Senior Director with PwC's Risk Consulting Practice.

    Derrick has worked with clients on cybersecurity strategy, architecture, and operations, information risk management, enterprise risk management, and business continuity. He has collaborated with senior executives and boards across diverse industries, government, the NGO community, and academia. Derrick has worked in the U.S., South Africa, Europe, and Australia. Derrick is a frequent author and speaker and served as an advisor to the World Affairs Council of Atlanta.

    Derrick holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and expects to graduate with a Master of Science in Cybersecurity in December 2022. He also holds certifications in Management Consulting, Six Sigma, and SAP.
