    The Chain Reaction - A Cyber Breach Experience October 1, 2021, 1:00 - 5:00 pm ET: Graduate students and faculty November 5, 2021, 1:00 - 5:00 pm ET: Undergraduate students Don’t miss a great hands-on opportunity for students and faculty members within the Southeast CAE Region in collaboration with Norwich University Applied Research Institutes (NUARI). The Chain Reaction - A Cyber Breach Experience will provide an opportunity for students and faculty to experience a live environment response to a common cyber threat. The objectives of the exercise are as follows: Expose students and faculty to executive level decision making and communication processes during and after a cyber incident. Introduce students to the executive level best practices necessary to prepare and release internal and external communications during and after a cyber incident. Immerse students in a collaborative problem-solving environment as members of the executive team and potentially interact with external entities such as law enforcement or business partners.     The Graduate College is assisting Career Planning and Development to host a "Graduate School Week", the week of October 25-29, 2021. The goal of Grad School Week is to raise awareness among KSU undergraduate students of the graduate offerings here at KSU. There are a number of events already planned and more being developed.   • KSU Celebrates National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

    "The UITS Office of Cybersecurity will be celebrating our thirteenth year of Cybersecurity awareness at KSU this October, 2021. KSU’s Cybersecurity Awareness Day answers the call of the National Cyber Security Alliance to raise awareness and encourages students, staff, faculty, and the community to protect their computers and themselves from an evolving cyber-threat landscape. This year’s event will include industry experts from sectors including corporate, education, and law enforcement." There will be a full day of online speakers on October 13, 2021 from 10 AM to 4 PM.   • KSU - Tuskegee NSF Grant Awarded

    KSU researchers Drs. Hossain Shahriar, Dan Lo and Michael Whitman were notified their grant proposal "Collaborative Research: SaTC: EDU: Authentic Learning of Machine Learning in Cybersecurity with Portable Hands-on Labware" was funded in the amount of $279,844. This grant is a collaborative effort with researcher Dr. Fan Wu of Tuskegee University.  –  September 08, 2021

  • Howard University Victim of Ransomware

    On Sept 6, 2021, Howard University reported having to cancel classes due to a ransomware breach. University ETS employees detected unusual activity on their network and shut them down eventually discovering the ransomware attack.
